Boswell Lady Pioneers Capture First-Ever 6A State Basketball Championship


Boswell Lady Pioneer basketball playersThe Boswell High School Lady Pioneers basketball team made history Saturday, March 1, by winning the UIL Class 6A Division 2 State Championship, marking the program’s first-ever state title.


In a thrilling matchup at the Alamodome in San Antonio, the Lady Pioneers defeated Fort Bend Hightower with a final score of 51-42 to bring home the championship.


The victory capped off an incredible season for Boswell, with the team finishing 39-2 overall, including a perfect 12-0 district record and an undefeated home record of 14-0. Throughout the season, the Lady Pioneers showcased exceptional determination, teamwork, and skill, earning the respect of fans and competitors across the state.

“This is such a special group of young women who worked hard every day to achieve something no other Boswell team has done,” said Head Coach John Reese. “They believed in themselves, trusted each other, and never backed down from a challenge.”

The team was led by Head Coach John Reese and Varsity Assistant Coach Ginger Williams, with support from Principal Vaughn Flagler and the Boswell High School community.


“This historic accomplishment is a moment of pride for our entire school and district,” Flagler said. “These student-athletes have set an example of leadership, perseverance, and sportsmanship that will inspire future generations.”


The championship title also brings recognition to Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and the City of Fort Worth, highlighting the talent and commitment within the community.
