With 25 years of teaching and coaching experience that includes a background as the winningest head football coach in Coppell High School history, DeWitt brings a track record of motivational leadership, high standards, and support of student-athletes to the Saginaw Rough Rider community.

“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and Saginaw High School,” DeWitt said. “I look forward to being a part of their mission to foster a culture of excellence and to help build on their athletic success and traditions. Go Rough Riders!”

Coach DeWitt joins the Rough Riders after serving as the campus coordinator/head football coach at New Caney High School, northeast of the Houston area. Prior to that, he served as the special teams coordinator at McKinney Boyd High School and as the boys athletic coordinator/head football coach at Coppell HS. During his eight years at Coppell, the football team earned six playoff appearances, including two trips to the regional finals. In 2017, he received the The Landry Award and the district 9-6A Staff of the Year award.

DeWitt began his coaching career in Tom Bean ISD as an assistant coach. He also coached in Lewisville ISD at Arbor Creek Middle School and Hebron High School, where he served as an assistant for the 4A State Championship team. He went on to become the defensive coordinator at Frisco Liberty High School and Coppell High School prior to taking over as the head coach.

“Coach Dewitt comes from a long line of success,” said John Abendschan, EMS ISD Assistant Athletic Coordinator. “Not only is his overall record as a head coach in Texas impressive, but he is a person of high expectations and moral standards. He lives by his faith, loves his family and will be an incredible addition to Rough Rider Nation. I can't wait to see him work with the kids and community at SHS.”

A native of Allen, Texas, DeWitt is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he also played football. He and his wife, Amanda, have been married 14 years and have three boys ages 8, 5 and 2. They enjoy spending time together, watching them play sports, and being outdoors. We are #EMSproud to welcome Coach DeWitt to Saginaw High School and EMS ISD.
