Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD is pleased to announce that Kathleen Weilby has been selected to serve as the new principal of High Country Elementary School. Previously, Weilby served as assistant principal at Elkins Elementary School for three years and brings 20 years of experience in public school education.

Weilby began her career in education teaching first and third grades in Lewisville ISD. She then taught first and third grades in Northwest ISD for 10 years. After earning her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University, she became an assistant principal in West Texas before returning to Fort Worth to serve at Elkins Elementary. Weilby earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas.

Weilby says her greatest joy is seeing the excitement on students’ and teachers’ faces when they reach their goals and are excited about their accomplishments. She truly believes education is a team effort and is looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year.

In addition to being a life-long educator, Weilby and her husband are history buffs and love traveling to the places they have learned about. They also have a 23-year-old daughter and take joy in watching her enjoy everything life has to offer.

Weilby will transition to her new role on June 7.
