Creekview Students Shine at YMCA Texas Youth and Government Conference

Following the success of our high school students at the YMCA Texas Youth and Government District Conference, we are proud to spotlight the incredible achievements of our middle school students from Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD (EMS ISD). These talented young leaders participated in the district conference alongside their high school peers, demonstrating a strong commitment to civic engagement, leadership, and the democratic process. 
  
Creekview Middle School: Leading the Way 
Creekview Middle School made a significant impact at the district conference, with the largest delegation in the entire Fort Worth area, sending 23 students to represent their school. Creekview students took on key leadership roles, with three Chair/Clerk teams helping to manage the committee rooms and oversee the joint session for all middle and high school students. 
  
Several Creekview students were recognized for their exceptional performance: 
* Jaise Hamilton was named a Distinguished Delegate for the State Affairs Forum. 
* Ciara Holenn received the Distinguished Delegate award for the Legislative Branch. 
* Benjamin Zavala earned the title of Outstanding Statesman, the only student in the Fort Worth area to receive this honor. 
* Hudson Carpenter, an 8th grader, currently serves as Lieutenant Governor for the 2025 conference, after being elected at last year’s state conference. 
* William Wiese, a 7th grader, is the FW area’s candidate for Speaker of the House. 
* Joshua Mugisha, also a 7th grader, is the FW area’s candidate for Governor. 
 
Creekview’s strong showing at the district conference reflects their commitment to developing leadership skills and fostering a deeper understanding of how government works.

Wayside Middle School: Distinguished Delegates Recognized 
At Wayside Middle School, a group of determined students participated in the district conference with enthusiasm and dedication. Delegates Dawson Cheslock (8th grade), Paloma Buck (7th grade), Miranda Garcia (7th grade), Claire Tucker (7th grade), Seth Torres (7th grade), Landyn Tolas (7th grade), Julianna Roque (7th grade), and Olivia Wardwell (7th grade) worked diligently to learn about and contribute to the democratic process. 
  
Two Wayside students were recognized for their outstanding contributions: 
  
Paloma Buck and Miranda Garcia both received the Distinguished Delegate award, recognizing their exceptional performance and leadership during the event. 
Their efforts demonstrate that the future of civic engagement is bright in EMS ISD, with these students already setting a high standard for leadership and public service.

Ed Willkie Middle School: State-Bound Excellence 
Ed Willkie Middle School had a standout performance at the district conference, with all three of their delegates advancing to the State Conference. In addition, each of their bills was successfully passed through committee—a remarkable achievement for these students. 
  
The students from Ed Willkie are: 
* Will Van Dine 
* Matthew Wainaina 
* Olivia Shaffer 
 
These students will now represent EMS ISD at the State Conference, where they will continue to build on the leadership and advocacy skills they developed at the district level.

Marine Creek Middle School: Perfect Performance 
Marine Creek Middle School sent eight students to compete at the district conference, and every one of them had their bills successfully passed through committee. Three of these students took on leadership roles as part of the Chair/Clerk Teams, helping to manage the conference proceedings. 
  
All eight Marine Creek students qualified for the State Conference, marking a significant accomplishment for the school and its students. Their dedication and teamwork were key to their success, and they are now ready to represent EMS ISD at the state level.

EMS ISD: A Bright Future for Civic Leadership 
The achievements of our middle school students at the YMCA Texas Youth and Government District Conference highlight the strength and promise of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. These students demonstrated exceptional leadership, public speaking, and policy advocacy, and they are well on their way to becoming the next generation of civic leaders. 
  
We are incredibly proud of the students from Creekview Middle School, Wayside Middle School, Ed Willkie Middle School, and Marine Creek Middle School for their hard work and dedication. Their success at the district conference is a testament to their commitment to becoming informed, responsible citizens, and to the strong foundation of leadership development in EMS ISD. 
  
As these students move forward to the State Conference and beyond, we look forward to their continued success and to seeing them shape the future of our communities and our country. Congratulations once again to all of our middle school delegates!
