Reading Bee Winners

Winners Fourteen second grade students participated in the District Reading Bee on Thursday, November 7, hosted at Comanche Springs Elementary School. The students who participated were the the Reading Bee champions from their home campus and were competing for the title of District Reading Bee Champion. The Reading Bee is an annual event sponsored by Score A Goal in the Classroom for 2nd grade students.  The process begins at the campus level where a campus champ is named.  The campus champ then moves forward to compete at the district level. Students individually read a series of reading passages that progress in difficulty to assess reading skills of fluency, accuracy and comprehension.

Nathan Allison from Lake Pointe Elementary was named the 2013 District Reading Bee Champion. Nathan will move on to participate in the 13th Annual North Texas Reading Bee Championship at Texas Christian University on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with other district or private school champions from all over North Texas. Every year the children look forward to receiving a myriad of grand prizes and awards. "We are very proud of all of our campus Reading Bee champions who represented their campus well in the district competition. We are very proud of Nathan who will represent our district on November 23," said Stacy Summerhill, English, Language Arts, and Reading (ELAR) Coordinator.
