• The Willkie Way is SAFE, RESPECTFUL, AND RESPONSIBLE

     Visitors to Ed Willkie Middle School are asked to check in at the front office with a valid form of ID.

  • Device Policy (Phones, Tablets, Earbuds, Headphones, etc.)

    At 8:15 bell devices will be put away

    • In the cafeteria at LUNCH is the only exception.
    • Staff will turn them into the front office - keep them put away.
    • NO EXCEPTIONS DURING SCHOOL DAY

    Off and away means not visible. 

    Violations of the device policy will be handled consistently:

    • 1st time - student pickup at end of day
    • 2nd - parent pickup
    • 3rd - parent pickup + $5 fee
    • 4th and up - parent pickup + $15 fee

    all funds go directly to student activity accounts.

  • Tardy Policy

    • Tardy to classes accumulate for each day in Skyward Attendance
    • Tardy to class starts over each Six Weeks
    • Teachers record Tardy as part of their daily attendance

    LATE ARRIVALS TO SCHOOL ARE A TARDY AND WILL RESULT IN THE CONSEQUENCES BELOW.

    TO EXCUSE A FIRST PERIOD TARDY, A GUARDIAN MUST ESCORT THE STUDENT INTO THE OFFICE.

    • Starting with the 3rd tardy to a class, an office referral, parent letter, and parent notification are automatically generated.

     Tardy 3 and 4:

    • Lunch detention

    Tardy 5 and 6:

    • 1 hour after school detention

    Tardy 7:

    • 1 day ISS
    • Parent conference

    Tardy 8:

    • 3 Hour Saturday School (Credit Recovery)
    • Possible Truancy measures
    • Team/Parent Conference

    Be on time to school. School begins at 8:20

    All electronics are to be turned off and put away at 8:15 am. (Must be out of sight!)

    All students are expected to have left campus immediately following dismissal.

    Follow “THE WILLKIE WAY” with minimal adult reminders.

    Enter and exit with a positive attitude!

    Follow bus procedures and guidelines.

    Clean up after yourself!

  • Guidelines for Success in the Hallways

    Walk on the right. 

    Be grateful for reminders.

    Students remain in seats until teacher dismisses.

    Put water bottles away to avoid spills.

    Walk by other students and classrooms without disturbing others.

    Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.

    Pickup trash and put in trash can.

    Food and drinks in cafeteria only.

    Help others if needed.


  • Guidelines for Success in the Restrooms 

    Go, flush, wash, leave!

    Clean up after yourself.

    Restroom use is allowed after the first 10 minutes of class and before the last 10 minutes of class.

    Avoid crowded restrooms

    Show gratitude by keeping facilities clean!

    Encourage others to maintain cleanliness.

    Allow others to have privacy.

    Keep hands, feet, and other objects to self. 

    Report any problems or inappropriate activity.

    Return directly to your classroom in a timely manner.
