• Visitors to Ed Willkie Middle School are asked to check in at the front office with a valid form of ID.

    • Tardy to classes is accumulated for each day in Skyward Attendance.
    • Tardy to class starts over each Six Weeks. 

    First Tardy:

    • Verbal Warning

     Second Tardy:

    • Teacher assigned 30 minute detention
    • Parent contact

    Third Tardy:

    • Teacher assigned 1 hour detention
    • Parent contact

    Fourth Tardy:

    • Automatic Referral to Administration – Generated the following day.
    • 2 – hour Detention Assigned 

    Fifth Tardy:

    • Automatic Referral to Administration
    • 3 – hour Saturday School Assigned
    • Team/Parent Conference

    Sixth Tardy:

    • Automatic Referral to Administration
    • 1 – day ISS assigned

    Seventh Tardy:

    • Automatic Referral to Administration
    • 2 - day ISS Assigned

    Eighth Tardy:

    • Automatic Referral to Administration
    • 3-day ISS Assigned

     


  • Guidelines for Success During Arrival and Dismissal

    Believe

    ★ Be on time to school. School begins at 8:25.

    ★ Attend tutorials with prior teacher approval (signed planner).

    Academics

    ★ All electronics are to be turned off and put away. (Must be out of sight!)

    ★ You must have a signed planner from your teacher to attend morning tutorials.

    Determined

    ★ Upon arrival, eat breakfast, and then report to designated area.

    ★ All students are expected to have left campus immediately following dismissal.

    Gratitude

    ★ Follow “Guidelines for Success” with minimal adult reminders.

    ★ Teachers and staff members are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Encouragement

    ★ Enter and exit with a positive attitude!

    Respect

    ★ Handle the school and materials with care.

    ★ Respect all school staff (including teachers, administrators, counselors, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and custodians.)

    ★ Use polite manners, such as, “please,” “thank you,” “yes ma’m,” “no ma’m,” “yes sir,” and “no sir.”

    Academics

    ★ Be in your seat and begin lesson or writing in your lesson planner before the tardy bell rings.

    Determined

    ★  Bring pencil/pen, binder, planner, and assignments to class everyday.

    ★  You must have your pass/planner signed to be in the hallway during class.

    ★  Students are allowed to go to lockers during grade level designated time.

    Gratitude

    ★ Enter/exit the classroom quietly to allow others to continue working.

    ★ Walk by other students and classrooms without disturbing others.

    Encouragement

    ★ Follow rules without adult reminders.

    ★ Students remain in seats until teacher dismisses.

    ★ Restroom use is allowed after the first 10 minutes of class and before the last 10 minutes of class.

    ★ Encourage others to maintain cleanliness.
