Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD has earned an overall score of 88, or a high “B” rating, and 11 schools received a combined total of 33 academic distinctions in the 2019 State Accountability Rating System. The Texas Education Agency released district and campus ratings on August 15, 2019. TEA defines a “B” as recognized performance.

In 2017, the 85^th Texas Legislature enacted an A-F grading system as a tool to communicate the performance of schools. The ratings are based predominantly on annual standardized test scores from the STAAR at elementary and middle school and End-of-Course exams at high school.

“We believe accountability is essential to success; it’s one of our district belief statements and a foundation of our Aspire 2022 Strategic Plan,” said Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, Superintendent. “We also know that any single rating only represents one piece of the total picture of a school or district. Many pieces have to come together to make a school great, and we work daily to provide a complete picture of excellence.”

On August 15, the Texas Education Agency released state accountability rankings. All Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD schools and the district received the ranking of Met Standard for the seventh consecutive year, and increased the number of academic and growth distinctions to a total of 33.

The education accountability system is new for 2018. Under the state-developed model, districts receive a letter grade of A-F based on student achievement and academic growth measures, while individual schools are labeled as Met Standard or Improvement Required. The district received an overall rating of a B, which equates to the previous label of Recognized Performance.

“We are a community school district driven by our mission, which promotes fostering a culture of excellence. One of our core beliefs in EMS ISD is that accountability is essential to success,” said Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, superintendent. “Analyzing student performance data and designing academic structures to support continuous student achievement is part of our ongoing process for growth and improvement. We also know that a single letter grade or label is incapable of fully capturing the performance, progress, and readiness levels of every child. We are proud of the performance improvements of our students, as well as the increase in the number of students enrolling, and succeeding, in advanced courses, dual credit, and career and technology certifications. Through our Aspire 2022 Strategic Plan, we are intentionally using multiple measures of achievement to provide personalized learning opportunities that grow, challenge, and prepare our students for future success."
