Tarleton Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership
Superintendent certification courses have a value-added benefit if you or other administrators are considering completing a Doctorate at Tarleton. The Tarleton Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership requires a concentration of 15 hours. The Superintendent certification courses satisfy this requirement. Completing the courses prior to admission to the program allows a reduced courseload during the completion of the doctoral coursework.
Tarleton’s doctoral program model is a three-year, cohort-based program. This means that a Cohort is admitted once a year, and students continue through the program as a group. The next doctoral cohort will receive orientation next Summer. The doctoral program application submission deadlines include November 1st as a Priority Deadline and April 1st as the regular admissions deadline. Doctoral cohort members can complete coursework face-to-face on the Fort Worth Campus or via Zoom. I have copied a link to the application page here: https://www.tarleton.edu/degrees/educational-leadership-edd/.
The Tarleton State University Superintendent Certification Program consists of five (5) courses. The courses may be taken in any order, with the exception of EDAD 6384 - Superintendent Practicum, which must be taken last. All courses, except EDAD 6384, are presented in an 8-week format. EDAD 6384 is a 16-week course to be completed in the Fall or Spring semester. All courses are presented online via Canvas.
Superintendent Certification candidates must submit a superintendent certification program application and be admitted to the program by the Educator Preparation Council (EPC) before taking any of the certification courses. The next EPC meeting is scheduled for August. The Superintendent Certification Application, a letter of recommendation from a district administrator, copies of all transcripts, current signed teacher service records, and a copy of your teaching certificate should be submitted to me, Dr. Cindy Edwards, at cedwards1@tarleton.edu and/or SuptCert@tarleton.edu.
