EMS ISD Announces New Director of Student Services

woman smiling with a blue backgroundEMS ISD is pleased to announce that veteran campus administrator Kendria Davis-Martin has been selected to serve as the district’s next director of student services. Davis-Martin currently serves as a middle school principal in Duncanville ISD and brings 25 years of experience in public education to her new role in EMS ISD. 

As the Director of Student Services, Davis-Martin will work closely with families and campuses on student transfers, attendance and discipline. 

"Throughout her 25 years of experience in education, Kendria Davis-Martin has enhanced the educational outcomes of students by advocacy, mentoring and personalizing educational opportunities,” said Chandra Turrentine, EMS ISD Executive Director of Student Services. “As the director of student services, she will serve EMS ISD with sincere dedication and enthusiasm." 

Davis-Martin's experience covers a broad range of responsibilities in education, preparing her for this role that focuses on supporting students, administrators and the EMS ISD community. Over the course of her career, she served as a classroom teacher, an assistant principal and academic associate principal before beginning her current role as a middle school principal. 

Davis-Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a focus on secondary education from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Texas A&M University – Commerce. She has been married to her husband Zeke for 22 years. They have two daughters, a junior in college and an eighth grader. 

"I am so honored to join a district and a department with a tradition of excellence, a strong culture of collaboration and relationship building, and a passion to serve students and the community with a tireless attitude," Davis-Martin said. 

Davis-Martin will begin her new role in EMS ISD in July.
