    At this time Special Olympics of Texas is NOT offering indoor sports. Therefore, the EMSISD Trailblazers delegation will NOT participate in bowling this Fall. Our hope is that we will be able to participate in Track and Field in the Spring.

    General Information
    The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.     Identification of Eligibility
    Special Olympics was created and developed to give individuals with intellectual disabilities, the opportunity to train and compete in sporting activities. 
    • Ages for competition: For students in Kindergarten through High School Graduation
      • 5 year olds can participate in Athletes in Training 
      • 6+ may train to compete in Local, Area, and State competitions
