How to Join as an Athlete or Volunteer
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. EMS ISD TrailBlazers participate in Bowling (Fall) and Track and Field (Spring) events. Practices are in the afternoon/evening hours, outside of school hours. Track and Field practices are at Marine Creek Middle School. Parents are required to be at practices.
Identification of Eligibility
Special Olympics was created and developed to give individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train and compete in sporting activities.
- Ages for competition: 8+ may train to compete in Local, Area, and State competitions
How To Become An Athlete
All students MUST complete ALL forms before they are allowed to participate
Required Medical and Participation Form
- New Athletes Medical and Participation Forms due August 31, 2023 for Bowling and January 30, 2024 for Track
