Milestone Years of Service Winners and Retirees from across EMS ISD were honored during two separate celebrations held at the EMS ISD Administration Building in May 2024.
On May 7, retirees were invited along with a plus one and their principal or department head to a catered dinner. All retirees in attendance received an EMS ISD torch plaque honoring 
their service to the students of EMS ISD.
"I want to thank each of you for carrying the torch and leaving a lasting legacy on many, many generations," Dr. Dana Barnes, Deputy Superintendent, told the retirees in attendance.

On May 14, milestone years of service recipients were treated to a celebration honoring their decades serving students in EMS ISD.
At the event, these longtime EMS ISD educators were honored personally, and received a plaque recognizing their 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service.
"These are people who have served many years in the school district in order to support young children, and the word that really comes to mind is the word legacy. You're building a legacy your entire life, with everyone you talk to, everybody you interact with, everyone with whom you serve. That legacy is based upon who you are as a person, their relationship with you, the decisions that you make in difficult times, and what's neat about that is, in the case of tonight, we have people who have done that for 20, 25, 30, 35 years. That's a long time to build a legacy," said Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, Superintendent.
