        Election Results
        The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD School Board Trustee General Election was held on May 1, 2021, for the purpose of electing a Trustee for Place 1 and Place 2.     

        Place 1
        Results show Marilyn Tolbert has been reelected for Place 1.  A total of 5,889 votes were cast for Place 1 with 3,285 votes cast for Marilyn Tolbert and 2,604 votes cast for Ron Franklin. 

        Place 2
        Results show Paige Ring has been reelected for Place 2.  A total of 5,686 votes were cast for Place 2 with 3,608 votes cast for Paige Ring and 2,078 votes cast for Scott Hines. 
         
        A Special Meeting to Canvass the School Trustee General Election was held on May 11, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. in the Administrative Services Building, 1200 Old Decatur Road, Saginaw, Texas, 76179.

        The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD 2021 Board Trustees General Election will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, for the purpose of electing a Trustee for Place 1 and Place 2. The first day to file for a place on the ballot for Place 1 and Place 2 is Wednesday, January 13, 2021. The last day to file for a place on the ballot for Place 1 and Place 2 is Friday, February 12, 2021, by 5:00 p.m. The terms for Place 1, currently held by Marilyn Tolbert, and Place 2, currently held by Paige Ring respectfully, expire in 2021. Trustees are elected for three-year terms.

        Candidate Eligibility Requirements:
        Current state law requires a candidate for trustee of an independent school district to be a qualified voter by the time required by Election Code Section 141.001.  To be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a public elective office in this state, a person must:

        (1)  be a United States citizen;

        (2)  be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;

        (3)  have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
         
           (A)  totally mentally incapacitated; or

           (B)  partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;

        (4)  have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting  disabilities;

        (5)  have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:

           (A)  for a candidate whose name is to appear on a general primary election ballot, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's  application for a place on the ballot;

           (B)  for an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;

           (C)  for a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in;

           (D)  for a party nominee who is nominated by any method other than by primary election, the date the nomination is made; and

           (E)  for an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;

        (6)  on the date described by Subdivision (5), be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected; and

        (7)  satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.

      Required Legal Posting: EAGLE MOUNTAIN-SAGINAW ISD ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $-22.90 (negative). Despite this required language, the Board of Trustees adopted a school tax rate decrease of 2.29 cents per $100,000 valuation.
