    (Place 1 and Place 2)

    The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD School Board Trustee General Election will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, for the purpose of electing a Trustee for Place 1 and Place 2. The first day to file for a place on the ballot for Place 1 and Place 2 is Wednesday, January 13, 2021. The last day to file for a place on the ballot for Place 1 and Place 2 is Friday, February 12, 2021, by 5:00 p.m. The terms for Place 1, currently held by Marilyn Tolbert, and Place 2, currently held by Paige Ring respectfully, expire in 2021. Trustees are elected for three-year terms.

    Candidate Eligibility Requirements:
    Current state law requires a candidate for trustee of an independent school district to be a qualified voter by the time required by Election Code Section 141.001.  To be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a public elective office in this state, a person must:

    (1)  be a United States citizen;

    (2)  be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;

    (3)  have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
     
       (A)  totally mentally incapacitated; or

       (B)  partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;

    (4)  have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting  disabilities;

    (5)  have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:

       (A)  for a candidate whose name is to appear on a general primary election ballot, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's  application for a place on the ballot;

       (B)  for an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;

       (C)  for a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in;

       (D)  for a party nominee who is nominated by any method other than by primary election, the date the nomination is made; and

       (E)  for an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;

    (6)  on the date described by Subdivision (5), be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected; and

    (7)  satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
     
    Filing Period for Candidate:
    - Wednesday, January 13, 2021:  First day to file application for place on ballot;
    - Friday, February 12, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.:  Last day to file application for a place on the ballot;

    Candidate Packets are available at the Office of Chief Financial Officer, Robb Welch.  However, you may also download the following forms which must be completed, notarized, and filed at the Office of Chief Financial Officer, by the deadline date:
    1. Complete Form 2-21 - Application for Place on the Ballot (must be notarized)
    2. Complete Form CFCP – Code of Fair Campaign Practices
    3. Complete Form CTA - Appointment of a Campaign Treasure by a Candidate (can be self)
    4. Form C/OH – Candidate/Officeholder Campaign Finance Report is to be completed and filed according to the 2020 Filing Schedule.  This report is required when campaign expenditures exceed $500.
    5. Complete Form CIS – Local Government Officer Conflicts Disclosure Statement
    6. Complete Form CIQ – Conflict of Interest Questionnaire
     
    Deadline Date to submit forms for the General Elections is Friday, February 12, 2021, by 5:00 p.m.  All forms must be filed at the Office of Chief Financial Officer, Robb Welch, located at Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, 1200 Old Decatur Road, Bldg #6, Fort Worth, Texas 76179.
