Voters to Decide May 7 Bond Election

On Tuesday, February 15, the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a $275 million bond election for May 7, 2022. The proposed bond package was recommended by a citizens’ Bond Planning Committee and includes two new elementary schools, land purchases, replacement of aging/inadequate systems, and funds to address inflationary costs resulting from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

School officials say the proposed bond package will not require a tax rate increase, but it will be funded by additional taxes collected on new construction and through rising home values set by the Tarrant Appraisal District. The home values of citizens over the age of 65 are frozen and cannot be increased, even if their property values rise.

A dedicated webpage has been created to provide information about the 2022 Bond Program: www.emsisd.com/2022bond. This site includes information about the proposed bond package, budget and tax rate information, voter details including voting locations and ballot language, and answers to frequently asked questions. Facts and details will continue to be added to the 2022 bond website leading up to Election Day. Additionally, questions can be submitted through the online Let’s Talk system using the topic area "2022 Bond Proposal."

Early voting in the May 2022 election begins April 25 and continues through May 3. Election Day is Saturday, May 7. The last day to register to vote for the May election is April 7.
